Caltova Art

Czech Painter Inspired by Travel, Nature & Wild Places

About

Artist Statement & Biography

Anna Caltová is from Kladno. She creates her work in various places: indoors, outdoors in nature, or while traveling the world. It is precisely this movement between familiar and new places that has become one of her main sources of inspiration. In her paintings, she primarily captures nature, whether in the form of more loosely rendered landscapes, or in details of plants and organic structures. In her paintings, the landscape becomes a space for emotions, memories, and personal experience.

She works primarily with watercolor and oil paint. A characteristic feature of her work is the use of rich colors and bold brushwork, through which she highlights what fascinates her about the world around her. For her, reality is a starting point, not an end in itself. Her paintings are inspired by specific places and situations, but they subsequently transform into a subjective expression of the beauty, energy, and atmosphere of the moment.

For her, creating art is a way to come to terms with the world around her. In a society that often highlights conflicts, uncertainty, and problems, she seeks in her paintings a space for a more intense perception of beauty. She does not escape reality, but rather strives to reveal another layer of it, one that is more colorful, more vibrant, and more sensitive. She believes that even seemingly ordinary places and moments can conceal something extraordinary if we pay them enough attention.
